Italica/Santiponce (Spain)

Schematic diagram

The original roman aqueduct of Italica had its sources in the riverbed of the Guadiamar (S1) and its terminus in a castellum aquae near Italica antica (C1).
In a later phase an extension was made between the sources near Tejada (S2) and the river Guadiamar. Close to Italica the conduit was split, one of the branches was heading for Italica Novus via a cistern (Cist) - also in use as a settling basin - and a second castellum aquae (C2). Here the water was distributed by means of (lead) pipes.
