Around the dam
The gallery is cut into a vertical rock wall in the manner shown in the sketch, leaving a
sometimes 3 m high wall separating the aqueduct from the gorge. The cut is up to 10 m deep,
and the conduit of the aqueduct 1.8 m wide. Locally, arches were left standing to support weak
sections of the rock wall.
