Present state of the Southwest fountain house which probably dates to the third quarter of the
4th c BCE. It was - after several alterations - destroyed during the siege of Sulla (86 BCE),
stripped and never rebuilt. The water came from the east (left) in a great stone aqueduct that
ran under the street bordering the south side of the Agora in Athens.
