Maintenance channel

During extension work of the local cemetery in Fullingdorf not only the aqueduct channel came
to light, as was expected, but also a 25 m long 'side channel' was excavated. Its internal
dimensions were 1,28 x 0,48 m with a fall of 12,5% (!) which is quite different from the main
channel. Besides that plaster layers were missing. The conclusion is that this construction
was not an extra supply but a service channel for maintenance and repair. Photo Museum
