Grand (France)

The temple was the site dedicated to Apollo Grannus, representing both the Roman god Apollo
and the god of the Gauls Grannus. The god predicted the future cured the sick. His cult at the location was well known and
attracted the most illustrious visitors. Other gods were also worshipped at Andesina, such as
Jupiter for whom columns surmounted by the god riding a horse slaying wild beasts, were erected.
In front of the temple the karst water came to light (mini-pond left from the (Jupiter) column) which water
was poured out into the small ornamental lake nearby. A little left the overflow water ran into
a cleft in the ground. Note the basilica just above the main temple, the double but blind gate,
and almost on top the three bathhouses with its piers of smoke. Those bathhouses demanded a high volume
of water supplied by external sources.
