Grand (France)

Mosaic in the Basilica

The new built hall above one of the largest mosaics in Roman Gaul with an expanse
of 225 m2, the major part is non-figurative. The perimeter defined by Grand's surrounding wall is notably characterized by
the existence of constructions intended for public purposes. This is the case in particular
with the apsed building which contains the mosaic (often called the Basilica), the portico which
extends from its façade, and the remains which have been interpreted as the thermal baths. However,
discoveries related to private residences are much more modest.
