Ancient bronze stop-cock

An ancient bronze stop-cock, now in the National Archeological Museum in Naples. Most of these stop-cocks
were used inside the premises of private houses and in baths establishments. The accompanying text
suggests that this stop regulated the main water supply of a wealthy house in a so-called calix, a bronze
water supply pipe of fixed diameter.
