Central water tower

The water tower in the center of Herculaneum (with quite different types of masonry and lining in the
adjacent buildings). It seems that the present tower was built in two phases with a repair after the
earthquake in 62 CE. Vertical grooves for the feeding pipe(s) are missing. Note the protective stones
at the foot of the tower.
