In order to cross a 3 km wide but not very deep depression in Bethlehem
(West Bank) an aqueduct bridge was built for the water channel of the
Upper aqueduct from the Salomon's Pool to Jerusalem, see the lower half
of the drawing. According to inscriptions on the blocks, the 10th Roman
legion was involved in the replacement of the bridge by a siphon, built
 from pierces stone blocks (size 0,62 x 0,80 x 0,9 - 1,0 m and a bore
of 0,33 m), see upper insert.
