Aqua Traiana

J.H. Parker's plan

The Aqua Traiana was primarily intended to supply Trastevere (the part of ancient
Rome west of the river Tiber). There are some clues that this aqueduct had an extension towards the
Baths of Traian on the Esciline hill, close to the Colosseum. The exact trace is unknown. Here a proposal
of J.H. Parker (second half 19th c) via the area near Porta Capena (left, at F). The Traian waters could
have been stored in the Sette Sale basin (right).
