Splitting at P. Maggiore

At left the Acqua Felice based on the substructions of the Aquae Claudia and Anio Novus,
making a sharp turn towards the Porta Maggiore (at right, not visible). Behind the bend a side
branch of the Aqua Claudia starts, called Aqua Neroniana. Here the substruction of the ancient
aqueducts was also in use as part of the Aurelian Wall that followed the aqueducts trace towards
Porta Maggiore and beyond.
