Opus Signinum

The floor and the walls of this huge basin, reinforced to balance the water pressure, were covered
with a thick layer of hydraulic plaster (cocciopesto / opus signinum). In the corners a type of
convex molding was used: quaterrounds. During the 6th c the basin was abandoned after the closure
of the aqueducts imposed by the Goths of Vitiges in 537 ad.
