The legionary camp in Strasbourg and its environment. Koeningshoffen is the major industrial area - located along the Roman road to Saverne (Tres Tabernae) - where the 6900 ceramic pipe segments were produced by the 8th Legio Augusta. Both vicus and canabae legionis are civil settlements, the latter more directly linked to the military establishment.
