Lead plate

A lead plate with a molded decoration, stamped with the initials of the 8th legion (LEG VIII). It probably belonged to a basin of the ‘chateau d’eau’ (water castle) redistributing water to the various parts of the Roman town of Strasbourg. Found at the Place Saint-Pierre le Jeune, Strasbourg.
